After removing the assembly from the vehicle, ensure it's free from external dirt without damaging the protective spring coating.

Attempt to move each control arm up and down to check for play in the ball joints. If there is play, replace the worn ball joint.

1. Loosen the wheel lug nuts. 2. Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jack stands. 3. Remove the wheel. 4. Unbolt the brake hose bracket from the shock absorber. 5. Remove the wheel speed sensor and detach the wiring harness by removing the clamp bracket bolt. 6. On 2015 and later models, remove the stabilizer bar link nut and disconnect the link from the strut. 7. Support the control arm with a floor jack. 8. Unscrew the nuts securing the strut to the steering knuckle. 9. Tap the bolts out with a hammer. 10. Use the floor jack to lower the knuckle to allow room to remove the shock absorber/coil spring assembly, being careful not to overextend the inner CV joint.

If the shock absorber is going to be replaced on 2015 and later models, remove the piston rod nut and separate the upper mounting bracket.

Loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Block the front wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling and remove the rear wheel.

1. Guide the assembly up into the fenderwell. 2. Align the previously made match marks. 3. Insert the upper mounting studs through the holes in the body. 4. Once the studs protrude, install the new nuts to prevent the shock from falling back through, but don't tighten them yet.

To maintain balanced characteristics on both sides of the vehicle, it's advisable to replace components on both sides simultaneously.

Ensure the vehicle is parked on level ground with the engine off and the parking brake engaged while verifying tire pressures.
