To detach the starter motor, remove the lower starter mounting bolt/stud and the two mounting bolts.

The starter relay is fine, and the problem may be in the ignition switch, Transmission Range sensor, Clutch Pedal Position switch, or the wiring between these components.

Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands.

Do not immediately assume that the starter is causing the problem. First, check the following items: a) Ensure that the battery cable clamps are clean and tight at the battery terminals. b) Inspect the condition of the battery cables and replace any defective ones with new ones. c) Test the condition of the battery; if it does not pass all tests, replace it with a new battery. d) Inspect the condition of the starter solenoid wiring and connections. e) Ensure that the starter mounting bolts are tight. f) Verify that the starter is receiving voltage on the S terminal of the starter solenoid when the ignition key is turned to Start. g) Check the operation of the Digital Transmission Range (DTR) sensor (for automatic transmission) or the clutch start switch (for manual transmission). Ensure the shift lever is in PARK or NEUTRAL (automatic) or that the clutch pedal is pressed (manual). h) Check the operation of the starter relay, which is located in the fuse and relay box behind the right kick panel inside the vehicle.
