    Q:
How to remove and install Brake Caliper on Mercury Mariner? Posted by Customer
    A:
Dust created by the brake system can be harmful to your health, so it is important to take precautions when working on the brakes. Never blow out the dust with compressed air or inhale it. Always wear an approved filtering mask when working on the brakes. Additionally, avoid using petroleum-based solvents to clean brake parts and instead use brake system cleaner. If replacement is necessary, it is recommended to replace the calipers rather than overhauling them. New and factory rebuilt units are available on an exchange basis, making the job easier. Remember to always replace the calipers in pairs, never just one. To remove the caliper, start by loosening the front wheel lug nuts and raising the front of the vehicle on jackstands. Remove the wheel and break loose the brake hose fitting. Then, remove the caliper mounting bolts and lift the caliper off its mounting bracket. Unscrew the caliper from the brake hose and plug the hose to prevent contamination. If the caliper is being removed for access to another component, hang it from the coil spring with a piece of wire. To install the caliper, reverse the removal procedure and ensure the brake hose is not twisted. Finally, bleed the brake circuit, check for leaks, and test the brakes before returning the vehicle to normal service.
