How to remove and install a door mirror and control cable on Mercury Grand Marquis? Posted by Customer
    A:
Remove the door trim panel and watershield. Working inside the vehicle, detach the control lever from the instrument panel or door and connect a string or thin wire to the end of the control cable, then detach any retaining clips. Working outside the vehicle, remove the attaching screws, detach the mirror, and pull the control cable out of the door. Attach the string or wire to the control end of the new cable/mirror assembly, pull it into position in the vehicle, then install the mirror and screws. Secure the cable and connect it to the door or instrument panel. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, pry off the mirror access hole cover, remove the three nuts using a socket to remove the outside mirror nuts, detach the mirror from the door, and unplug the electrical connector. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedures.
