    How do you remove and install the CMP sensor on Mercury Mariner? Posted by Customer

    For the four-cylinder models, it will be useful to begin with the removal of the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Third, find the CMP sensor which is positioned at left rear corner of turn and remove the electrical connector of it. First of all, tension the CMP sensor retaining bolt and then, take out the CMP sensor. The process of installation is the reverse, tighten the CMP sensor bolt to the recommended torque. When the battery is disconnected and reconnected the PCM require.relearn its strategy on idle and fuel trim for good driveability and performance. For V6 models, the starting point is always the negative terminal of the battery cable. The CMP sensor is at the right end of the front cylinder head; unplug the sensor connector, and then remove the bolt, and then, the CMP sensor. Installation is the reverse of the steps outlined above with emphasis placed on making sure that the CMP sensor bolt is tightened to the manufacturers recommended torque. To reach that the PCM needs to learn its idle and the fuel trim once more after reconnecting the battery.
