Before removing the MAF sensor, disengage the sensor wire harness grommet from the underside of the housing. Remove the grommet where the electrical harness for the MAF sensor passes through. The MAF sensor is secured to a mounting plate inside the filter housing by four retaining spring clips; carefully pry these clips loose with a small screwdriver to remove the mounting plate and MAF sensor as a single assembly. Detach the MAF sensor from the mounting plate by removing two bolts. Inspect the rubber grommet sealing the entry hole for the MAF sensor wiring harness on the underside of the filter housing, replacing it if cracked or damaged. Installation follows the reverse order of removal. For 5.4L VB and all 2009 and later models, the MAF sensor is located on the right side of the air filter housing. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal and the electrical connector from the MAF sensor by sliding the lock out and depressing the release tab. Remove the MAF sensor mounting screws and take out the MAF sensor from the air filter housing. If reinstalling the old MAF sensor, inspect the rubber sealing ring at the sensor mounting flange, replacing the sensor if the ring is cracked, torn, or deteriorated, as it is not available separately. Installation is again the reverse of removal.
