    Q:
Why is the oxygen sensor important for the PCM for the 2007 Mercury Mariner? Posted by Customer
    A:
Without the oxygen sensor, the PCM would be unable to correct the injector on-time, which determines the air/fuel ratio needed to maintain the "perfect" (stoichiometric) air/fuel ratio of 14.7:1 that the catalyst requires for optimal operation.

    Q:
What are the steps to replace the downstream oxygen sensor for the front cylinder bank in the 2001 Ford Escape? Posted by Customer
    A:
    1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. 2. Disconnect the downstream oxygen sensor electrical connector. 3. Raise the front of the vehicle and secure it on jackstands. 4. Locate and unscrew the downstream oxygen sensor. 5. Apply anti-seize compound if reinstalling the old sensor. 6. Install the sensor and tighten it to the specified torque. 7. Reconnect the battery and allow the PCM to relearn its idle and fuel trim strategy.
