    Q:
What is the purpose of the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) system and PCV Valve on 1993-2011 Ford Ranger? Posted by Customer
    A:
The PCV system reduces hydrocarbon emission by scavenging crankcase vapors and circulating fresh air through the crankcase. It uses a PCV valve, fresh-air filtered inlet, and vacuum hoses to connect to the engine and EECS system. The PCV valve restricts flow during high intake manifold vacuum to maintain idle quality. In abnormal conditions, excess blow-by gases flow back into the air cleaner for combustion.

    Q:
How to replace the PCV valve on Ford Taurus? Posted by Customer
    A:
In four-cylinder models, the PCV valve is mounted as part of the crankcase vent oil separates on the front side of the block. First, take off the intake manifold and next are the oil vent separator mounting bolts and gasket. Scrape off the deposit on the block of engines and fit a fresh gasket onto the separator; the reverse will be used to fit the separator reversing the removal process and tighten the bolts of the oil vent separator to the recommended torque. In V6 models the PCV valve is located to the right side of the EGR valve on 3.0 vehicles and on the rear of the top valve cover on 3.5 vehicles. In case one works on a 3.5L V6 engine, it is easier to take off the upper intake manifold so as to get to the valve though it is not essential. Transaxle roll restrictor brace must be removed for 3.0L engines. Remove the electrical connection from the valve and then the hose; if present. Loosen the PCV valve by rotating it in an anti-clockwise direction and take it off from the valve cover. Because of the lock, it is mandatory that the PCV valve be replaced every time it is to be accessed. When fitting the new valve, it should be in the right position with the terminal end facing the wiring harness A wrong positioning requires the removal of the valve and refitting processes to be repeated.

    Q:
How to remove and install the PCV valve on Lincoln MKX? Posted by Customer
    A:
For four-cylinder models, remove the intake manifold and oil vent separator bolts and gasket. Clean the engine block, install a new gasket. Reverse the process for installation, ensuring bolts are secure. For V6 models, remove engine cover fasteners, oil cap, and engine cover. On 3.5L and 3.7L models, remove the upper intake manifold. The PCV valve is on the valve cover. Turn it counterclockwise for removal. Replace the PCV valve each time it's removed. Ensure correct orientation when installing the new PCV valve. Incorrect installation requires replacement.

    Q:
How does the PCV system work for the 2002 Ford Ranger? Posted by Customer

    Q:
How does the PCV system operate for the 2001 Ford Escape? Posted by Customer
    A:
The PCV system uses intake manifold vacuum to draw crankcase vapors from the crankcase into the intake manifold. The PCV valve regulates the amount of blow-by gases returned to the intake manifold based on the available intake manifold vacuum and prevents combustion gases from entering the manifold during a backfire.

    Q:
How can I check if the PCV valve/system is working properly in the 2008 Ford Escape? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start the engine and allow it to idle, then disconnect the PCV valve from the valve cover and feel for vacuum at the end of the valve. If vacuum is felt, the PCV valve/system is working properly.
