Ford Bronco II Fuel Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install the electric fuel pump for Ford Bronco II?
A: To remove the low-pressure pump in the Fuel Tank for 2.3L and 2.9L engines up to model year 1988, disconnect the negative battery cable, drain or remove the tank, disconnect electrical connections to the fuel system sender unit, remove dirt from around the fuel sender assembly, loosen quick connect fittings, and separate the locking ring, sender assembly, and sealing gasket. Install a fuel pump on the sender assembly, place a new sealing gasket into a groove of a tank, and install the sender assembly into it. Rotate this ring until it locks. For removal of high-pressure pump on the frame rail, disconnect negative battery cable, relieve system pressure, clean dirt/grease from fuel line fittings, disconnect quick-connect fittings properly, and pull out mounting bracket off the pump assembly. After cleaning and maintenance operations are done, reconnect electrical connections and fuel line connections, connect the battery cable, pressurize the fuel system, and check for leaks.
