    Q: How do you check and replace the transmission mount on Ford Expedition?
    A: If the vehicle is equipped with air suspension, turn off the air suspension system using the switch located in the area of the right kick panel. Insert a large screwdriver or pry bar into the space between the transmission and the crossmember to pry the transmission up slightly. To check the transmission mount, use a prybar or large screwdriver to lever the transmission up and down; if it moves easily, inspect the rubber insulator part of the mount for tears or cracks, indicating it must be replaced. The transmission should not move much away from the insulator, and any separation of the rubber signifies a worn mount. Remove the nuts attaching the mount to the crossmember, then raise the transmission slightly with a jack and remove the bolts attaching the mount to the transmission. Use a transmission jack or floor jack to lift the transmission just enough to slip the old mount out from between the transmission and the crossmember, then remove the mount. Installation follows the reverse of the removal procedure, ensuring that the nuts and bolts are tightened securely. Finally, remove the jackstands and lower the vehicle, then turn on the switch for the air suspension system if applicable.
