Q: How to remove and install the EVAP canister,Canister Purge Valve and related components on Ford Fusion?
A: Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. On V6 models, remove the lower cowl trim panel. On 1.5L models, remove the air filter housing outlet duct. Disconnect the electrical connector from the canister purge valve. Disconnect the EVAP line quick connect fittings. Remove the purge valve and mounting bracket as a single assembly, then depress the lock tab and slide the purge valve off the mounting bracket. Installation is the reverse of removal. The EVAP canister is located under the vehicle, on the underside of the spare tire well. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. On AWD models, lower the rear differential assembly and sub frame. Disconnect the electrical connector and the vapor hose quick connect fitting from the EVAP canister vent solenoid. Disconnect the two EVAP line quick connect fittings from the EVAP canister. Remove the mounting fasteners that secure the canister and remove the canister. Installation is the reverse of removal. The EVAP canister vent solenoid is mounted on the EVAP canister. Remove the EVAP canister. Release the two lock tabs and remove the EVAP canister vent solenoid heat shield from the canister by pushing it straight down. Loosen the hose clamp and disconnect the fuel vapor hose from the vent solenoid. Release the lock tab and detach the vent solenoid and dust separator assembly from the EVAP canister. Installation is the reverse of removal.
