How to remove and install ignition coils in a Ford Fusion?

Disconnect the negative battery terminal. For 1.5L and 1.6L models, remove the engine cover and disconnect the electrical connectors for the ignition coils and fuel injectors. For 2.0L models, remove the air filter housing inlet tube. For 2.7L V6 engines, remove the engine cover and disconnect the EVAP hoses. To access the rear coils, remove the air filter housing outlet pipe or upper intake manifold as needed. Disconnect the ignition coil connector, remove the mounting fastener, and pull off the coil. Installation is the reverse of removal.
