How to replace the fuel filter on 2000-2011 Ford Ranger?

The fuel filter is mounted within the left frame rail. The manufacturer recommends replacing it at 30,000 miles for California vehicles, but it's not required. The fuel filters on later model vehicles may vary slightly, so match the new filter with the old one to confirm it's correct. Position the front end of the vehicle higher than the rear, remove and reinstall the gas cap to relieve fuel system pressure. Inspect and clean the hose fittings if necessary. Disconnect the push-connect fittings from the filter. Remove the fuel filter mounting bracket nut if needed. Note the arrow on the filter for installation direction. Loosen the clamp screw and detach the filter from the bracket. Install the new filter with the arrow pointing the right way and tighten the clamp screw. Connect each fuel line to the filter. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.
