How to remove and replace the heater/air conditioner control assembly on Ford Taurus?

The A/C Switch is incorporated into the Front Controls Interface Module (FCIM): if there is a problem, the entire module must be replaced. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Remove the left and right floor console upper trim panels. For 2009 and earlier models, remove the center instrument panel. Remove the A/C Switch mounting screws and remove the control assembly. For 2010 and later models, remove the audio control module. Remove the A/C Switch retaining fastener and move the control assembly aside. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the A/C Switch and remove the control assembly. Installation is the reverse of removal.
