How do you remove the steering column on Ford Taurus?

Park the vehicle straight and disconnect the battery's negative terminal. Remove the steering wheel and tape the airbag clockspring. Take off the steering column covers and lower shroud. Disconnect the steering column intermediate shaft and electrical connectors. Detach the wire harness and remove the steering column mounting fasteners. Lower and remove the column. To reinstall, position the column and connect the intermediate shaft U-joint with the steering shaft. Tighten the mounting fasteners and the intermediate shaft pinch bolt. Reverse the removal process to complete the installation.
