Q: How do I remove the turbocharger on Lincoln MKX?
A: Start turbocharger removal by raising the vehicle, removing the catalytic converter and charge air cooler inlet tube. Drain the cooling system. For 2014 and earlier models, remove the turbocharger heat shield, disconnect coolant and oil lines, vacuum lines, and electrical connectors. Remove the oil drain tube and turbocharger. For 2015 and later four-cylinder models, remove cowl panel, right-front wheel, engine lower shield, turbocharger bypass valve and hose, outlet and inlet pipes, coolant tubes, oil supply tube, wastegate control hose, and turbocharger oil return tube. Disconnect the CHT sensor electrical connector and turbocharger control valve vacuum tube retainers to remove the turbocharger. For 2015 and later V6 models, remove necessary parts depending on the side of the turbocharger, including outlet pipe, heat shield, inlet pipe, cowl panel, front wheel, and lower Charge Air Cooler intake pipe. Remove the turbocharger oil supply tube, oil filter, coolant tube, wastegate control hose, oil return tube, and turbocharger coolant supply tube bolt. Install the turbocharger(s) with new parts as required, refill the cooling system and change the engine oil and filter.
