Lincoln MKX Air Filter

Air Filter is a part of Lincoln MKX vehicles and it is responsible for the necessity to clean the dirt and any other particle that is required to be eliminated from the stream of the engine's air supply for preventing it from getting damaged. However, as the filter compels dust it narrows the passage through which air flows, which affects performance, and fuel efficiency. Replacement air filters are produced to provide the optimal filtration while at the same time maximizing, engine protection as well as efficiency. Round carbureted engine filters or a flat panel filter for the fuel-injected engines depending on the type of the cars with different shapes and locations. This is so because performance air filters enhance both the flow of air and the filtration process leading to an increase in engine power and efficiency coupled with a longer filtration interval extending to 50,000miles. Daily check and cleaning of the air filter are required especially when the vehicle will be used in offroad or dusty environment.

Lincoln MKX Air Filter Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do I replace the air filter in a Lincoln MKX?
A: The air filter is located inside a housing at the left (driver's) side of the engine compartment. To remove the air filter, release the clamps that secure the two halves of the air filter housing together, then separate the cover halves and remove the air filter element. Unlatch these clips, pull the cover out of the way and lift the element out. Inspect the outer surface of the filter element. If it is dirty, replace it. If it is only moderately dusty, it can be reused by blowing it clean from the back to the front surface with compressed air. Because it is a pleated paper type filter, it cannot be washed or oiled. If it cannot be cleaned satisfactorily with compressed air, discard and replace it. While the cover is off, be careful not to drop anything down into the housing. Never drive the vehicle with the air filter removed. Excessive engine wear could result and backfiring could even cause a fire under the hood. Wipe out the inside of the air filter housing. Place the new filter into the filter housing, making sure it seats properly. Make sure the top half of the housing is seated properly, then secure it with the clamps.
