    Q:
What should be done if engine mounts are broken or deteriorated on Ford Focus? Posted by Customer
    A:
Engine mounts seldom require attention, but broken or deteriorated mounts should be replaced immediately to prevent damage or wear on the drive line components. During the check, the engine must be raised slightly to remove the weight from the mounts. Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands, then position a jack under the engine oil pan, using a block of wood to protect the oil pan. Carefully raise the engine just enough to relieve the weight on the mounts. Inspect the mounts for any cracks, hardened rubber, or separation from the metal. Check for any relative movement between the mount and the engine or frame by attempting to move the mounts with a large screwdriver or prybar; if movement is noted, lower the engine and tighten the mount fasteners. To slow deterioration, apply rubber preservative to the mounts. For replacement, disconnect the negative battery cable, support the engine with a jack, and remove the fasteners to detach the mount from the engine and chassis. Installation follows the reverse of removal, ensuring to use thread locking compound on the mount bolts and tighten them securely.

    Q:
How do you remove the engine rear mount/link for the 2004 Ford Focus? Posted by Customer
    A:
    1. Apply the parking brake and jack up the front of the vehicle, supporting it on axle stands. 2. Unscrew the through-bolts and remove the engine rear mount link from the bracket on the transaxle and the underbody bracket. 3. Hold the engine stationary while removing the bolts, as the link will be under tension.

    Q:
What should be noted about the through-bolts during the removal of the engine rear mount/link for the 2003 Ford Focus? Posted by Customer

The two through-bolts are of different lengths; if replaced in the wrong positions, the rearmost bolt will interfere with the steering rack.
