In order to take out the airbag module the ignition key should be turned Off and the cable should be disconnected from the battery negative terminal for at least 2 minutes. Subsequently, adjust the steering wheel so that the wheels are in the straight ahead position and then withdraw the key. To unbolt the airbag module, use a small screwdriver or a 3mm Allen wrench to depress the clips accessible through the holes on the right and left-hand sides of the steering wheel, push gently on the airbag module on the side where the clips are undone and then on the other side. To remove the airbag, turn the two connector locks in anti-clockwise direction to unlock the electrical connectors and then take out the airbag and place it in a safe isolated position. On the wheel and the steering shaft make match marks and then take off the steering wheel mounting nut and taking the wheel lightly till it's off. Pass the wires and connectors through the steering as you unhook it and keep the clockspring from turning by taping it, if the steering shaft is turned at this point, it will be damaging to the clockspring. To remove the clockspring if required, then the steering column covers should be detached and disconnected the clockspring connectors and then the mounting screws should be withdraw. For installation, if the clockspring was removed, install and center it by rotating inner rotor counter clockwise till some resistance is met, clockwise 2 to 2-1/4 turns with electrical connector at 12 O clock position. To accomplish the installation of the wheel, it was necessary to pass the wiring and air bag connectors through the wheel and place the steering wheel on the steering shaft ensuring the match marks are matching and tighten the steering wheel nut to the recommended torque. Perform the removal in reverse, connecting the connectors properly at the airbag module with the safety tabs up, and should follow the color code of the airbag connectors; finally, the airbag has to be pushed down towards the wheel until the retainers lock.
