To remove the steering wheel, you should turn off the car and unfixed negative cable from the battery and if the car has an airbag, then you are allowed to unfixed the positive cable. For none airbag system, remove the screws holding the horn pad using a screw driver and uninstall it. For Airbag systems first remove the screws by unscrewing the plugs at the sides of the steering wheel of the driver side airbag module. Then turn and twist the horn pad back some without dropping the steering wheel, unplug the electrical connector and take the horn pad out. For airbag models, first of all, unscrew the side of the steering wheel, pull the airbag up and unbend the electric socket, and then put it into safekeeping. Now however turn the steering wheel so that it is in normal position and back off the locknut of steering wheel bolt about two rotations only. To take out the steering wheel, use a steering wheel puller and one should avoid applying impact on the shaft. If they are of the slotted type, all that will be required is to unwind the bolt and throw it away so that a new one can be fitted. If fitted, remove the damper and try to align the steering wheel and the column having your own marks if there are none traceable. The steering wheel is then to be unbolted from the column and the sliding contact clock spring wires are to be passed through the steering wheel for airbag systems, if any. For installation include positioning of the horn spring into position, ensure corresponding marks on the steering wheel hub and shaft to be alighted while slipping the wheel over the shaft. Replace the removed mounting bolt with the new one and fit it as a reverse of the manner it was removed, while being keen not to trap the airbag wiring.
