    Q:
How to remove and install Cylinder Head in V6 engine on Ford Bronco? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the engine components, first drain the engine coolant and disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Next, remove the air cleaner assembly along with the air intake duct and heat tube, then loosen the accessory drivebelt idler and remove the drivebelt. If the left cylinder head is being removed, and if equipped with power steering, take off the pump mounting bracket attaching bolts while leaving the hoses connected, and set the pump/bracket assembly aside to prevent fluid leakage. If air conditioning is present, remove the mounting bracket attaching bolts and position the compressor aside with hoses still connected. For the right cylinder head removal, disconnect the thermactor diverter valve and hose assembly at the bypass valve and downstream air tube, then remove the assembly. Continue by removing the accessory drive idler, alternator, thermactor pump pulley, pump, alternator bracket, PCV valve, intake manifold, valve cover(s), and exhaust manifold(s). Remove the pushrods while noting their positions, then take out the cylinder head attaching bolts and remove the cylinder head(s), discarding the bolts as new ones are required for reinstallation. Discard the old cylinder head gasket(s) and follow the procedures for cylinder head disassembly and inspection. For installation, position new head gasket(s) on the cylinder block using dowels for alignment, then place the head(s) on the block. Apply a thin coat of pipe sealant to the threads of the short cylinder head bolts, avoiding sealant on the long bolts. Lightly oil the flat washers and install them along with the cylinder head bolts, ensuring to use new bolts. Tighten the attaching bolts in the correct sequence according to torque values, and complete the remaining installation steps in reverse order of removal. Use the proper coolant when refilling the cooling system, change the engine oil and filter, then start the engine and check for leaks.

    Q:
How should valve springs, keepers, and retainers be cleaned for the 1990 Ford F-250? Posted by Customer
    A:
Clean all the valve springs, keepers, and retainers with solvent and dry them thoroughly. Do the components from one valve at a time to avoid mixing up the parts.

    Q:
How should the installed valve spring height be checked for the 1992 Ford F-250? Posted by Customer
    A:
Check the installed valve spring height with a ruler graduated in 1/64-inch increments or a dial caliper. The measurement is taken from the underside of the spring damper to the underside of the spring retainer. If the height is greater than specified, shims can be added under the springs to correct it. However, do not shim the springs to the point where the installed height is less than specified.

    Q:
How should the cylinder head retaining bolts be prepared and installed for the 1983 Ford F-250? Posted by Customer
    A:
Coat the cylinder head retaining bolts with light engine oil and thread the bolts into the engine block through the head.

    Q:
Why might it be more practical and economical for a home mechanic to purchase a replacement head rather than reconditioning the original for the 1982 Ford F-250? Posted by Customer
    A:
It may be more practical and economical because some specialized tools are necessary for the disassembly and inspection procedures, and replacement parts may not be readily available.

    Q:
How should the valve springs be compressed and the keepers installed for the 1992 Ford Bronco? Posted by Customer

    Q:
How should the gasket be positioned for the 1984 Ford Bronco? Posted by Customer

What should be done once the valves and related components have been removed and stored for the 1988 Ford Bronco? Posted by Customer
    A:

If a complete engine overhaul is being done, the engine disassembly procedures should be finished before beginning the cylinder head cleaning and inspection process.
