    When installing the steering gear, you should: 1. Use new fasteners in the reassembly. 2. Install a new steering gear turn tube heat wrap if you're installing a new steering gear. 3. Tighten the steering gear mounting bolts to the specified torque in sequence: left rear, right rear, left front, right front. 4. Align the match marks when connecting the steering column shaft to the steering gear input shaft and install a new pinch bolt. 5. Replace the banjo bolt and sealing washers on the high-pressure line and tighten the banjo bolt to the specified torque. 6. Fill the power steering reservoir with the recommended fluid. 7. Bleed the power steering hydraulic system. 8. Have the front end alignment checked and, if necessary, adjusted.

    The steps to remove the steering gear are as follows: 1. Loosen the front wheel lug nuts. 2. Raise the vehicle and place it securely on jackstands. 3. Remove both front wheels. 4. Detach the tie-rod ends from the steering knuckles. 5. Place a drain pan under the steering gear and detach the power steering pressure and return lines, capping the ends to prevent excessive fluid loss and contamination. 6. Remove the stabilizer bar. 7. Index mark the steering shaft to the steering gear input shaft, then disconnect the steering shaft from the steering gear input shaft. 8. Remove the heat shield and the pressure line retainers from the steering gear. 9. Remove the mounting bolts and detach the steering gear from the subframe.
