Visually check the disc surface for score marks and other damage. Light scratches and shallow grooves are normal, but deep score marks over 0.015-inch require disc removal and refinishing by an automotive machine shop. Both sides of the disc should be checked, and if pulsating is noticed during braking, disc runout should be suspected.

22. Wipe off and inspect the steering knuckle main seal. If it's damaged or worn, replace it. 23. Install the hub and bearing assembly in the steering knuckle, install the three hub and bearing mounting bolts, and tighten them to the torque. 24. Install a new retainer ring on the driveaxle. 25. Reattach the vacuum line clips and, if equipped, the ABS harness clips to the frame. 26. If the vehicle is equipped with ABS, reconnect the ABS harness electrical connector. 27. Check the wheel-end for vacuum leaks before reconnecting the vacuum line to the steering knuckle. 28. Reconnect the vacuum line to the steering knuckle. 29. Install the brake disc splash shield. 30. Place the hub lock in position on the wheel and tap it all the way on with a soft-tipped rubber mallet. 31. Install the brake disc and caliper. 32. Install the wheel, remove the vehicle from all jacks and stands, and lower the vehicle. Tighten the wheel lug nuts to the torque.

Place the caged needle bearing in position with the stamped part number side facing up, then use the installation tool and driver to seat it correctly.

This procedure applies to front and rear disc brake assemblies.
