For 1992 and later models, the upper balljoint replacement involves raising the vehicle, removing the wheel, using a floor jack under the lower control arm, removing the pinch bolt and nut, marking the position of adjustment cams, removing nuts, removing the old balljoint, and installing the new balljoint with alignment of adjustment cams and tightening of all fasteners to the torque.

Raise the vehicle and support it with floor jacks under the lower control arms. Use a prybar under the tire and check for axial movement. Replace the balljoints if axial movement exceeds 3/64-inch.

Clean the grease fitting and checking surface to remove dirt and grease. Check if the checking surface projects outside the cover; if not, replace the lower control arm assembly.
