    Q:
What tool should be used to detach the crankshaft pulley, and what caution should be taken for the 1993 Ford Explorer? Posted by Customer
    A:
Use a puller to detach the crankshaft pulley. The recommended puller should be used to remove the crankshaft pulley. If a puller that applies force to the outer edge is used, the pulley will be damaged. Caution: Don't use a puller with jaws that grip the outer edge of the pulley. The puller must be the type shown in the illustration that utilizes bolts to apply force to the pulley hub only.

    Q:
What should be done to the sealing surface of the hub and the key way in the pulley before installation for the 1999 Ford Explorer? Posted by Customer
    A:
Using clean engine oil, lubricate the sealing surface of the hub. Apply a small amount of RTV sealant to the key way in the pulley, then install the pulley within four minutes after applying the sealant.
