    Q:
How to replace the CKP sensor on Ford F-150? Posted by Customer
    A:
On 4.2L V6 models, the CKP sensor is fitted on the front side of the engine block, approximately at the 11:00 position with reference to the crankshaft. Start by removing the cable from the negative terminal of the battery and then proceed by find the cars defective area and lifting from the front and supporting it with jackstands. Unplug the electrical connector that is situated slightly behind the small rock guard and unbolt the mounting of the CKP sensor and then withdraw it from the timing cover. For 4.6L and 5.4L V8 model, the position of the CKP sensor is at the right front of the engine block. An isolating clip therefore should be applied on the negative terminal of the car battery, the accessory drive belt must be pulled off, and the front part of the automobile should be lifted on jackstands. Remove the compressor bolts so as to gain access to CKP sensor then unclip the electrical connector with help of the release tab. Unbolster the CKP sensor mounting bolt you can then pull the sensor out of the block. New CKP sensor requires re-initialization with a factory scan tool, thus for 3.5L and 3.7L V6 equipped vehicles, a word of caution is necessary. CKP sensor is mounted on the left side of the engine block just behind the exhaust manifold heat shield. Remove the negative cable from the battery, if the car has two turbos take one off and then unbolt the exhaust manifold shield. Take off the rubber grommet on the engine block side, then pull the electrical connector off CKP sensor, and then, using the mounting bolt, pull the sensor out. In the 5.0L and 6.2L V8 models, care has again advised when re-initializing the new CKP sensor. For 5.0L engines the CKP sensor is mounted on the top of the Engine block behind the right cylinder head while for 6.2L CKP sensor is at the back of the engine block beneath the intake manifold. Locate the negative battery terminal and then unbolt it, if your car model is with 6.2L motor with intake manifold fastened then it has to be removed, in turn disconnect the electrical connector from the CKP sensor and finally unbolt the mounting bolt to remove the sensor. For engines with the displacement of 6.2L, be certain that the new CKP sensor is inserted into the fitting on the rear seal retainer plate and is in contact with the engine block before tightening the mounting stud.

    Q:
What is the final step in the installation process for the 2007 Ford Mustang? Posted by Customer
    A:
Install the sensor into the engine block, ensuring it is completely seated, then install the retaining bolt and tighten it securely. Caution: If the CKP sensor is not completely seated when the retaining bolt is installed, the sensor can be damaged once the bolt is fully tightened. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal.
