Before accessing the axleshaft, it's necessary to remove the rear wheels and then the rear brake drums or calipers and discs. These components must be removed to gain access to the axleshaft and related components within the rear axle housing.

Additional steps during installation include installing a new circlip on the inner stub shaft splines, coating the differential seal lips with multipurpose grease, and inserting the stub shaft into the differential side gear until the circlip snaps into place. The limited slip rear axle uses multi-disc clutch packs and a speed-sensitive engagement mechanism to lock both axleshafts together, applying equal rotational power to both wheels.
