The first step is to disconnect the brake hose from the bracket on the strut by unclipping the brake hose from the strut.

Chock the front wheels, jack up the rear of the vehicle, and support it on axle stands. Remove the wheels as required. On the left-hand shock absorber, release the exhaust from the rubber hanger, then undo the rear exhaust muffler heat shield bolts and remove it to access the upper shock mounting nut. Place a jack under the lower suspension arm/coil spring for support. Unscrew and remove the upper mounting bolt, then the lower mounting bolt. Withdraw the shock absorber from under the vehicle.

Address loose steering gear mounts or worn tie-rod ends.

Install the coil spring compressor tools, ensuring that they are fully engaged, and compress the spring until all tension is relieved from the upper mount. It is important to make sure the spring compressor tool is on securely.
