Place the camshaft sprockets back on their original camshafts and loosely install the sprocket bolts.

It is necessary to the camshaft timing procedure and the photos of the special tools and their placement on the cylinder heads.

Mark a reference point on the top chain link and position a ruler over the top of the chain.

Turn the crankshaft clockwise until the number one piston is at Top Dead Center.

1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. 2. Drain the cooling system and engine oil. 3. Remove the engine as described in Part F. Remove the oil pan. 4. Replace the oil filter. 5. Remove the drivebelt. 6. Remove the timing chain cover. 7. Turn the crankshaft until the timing marks are aligned. 8. Remove the camshaft sprocket Torx bolt and the crankshaft sprocket key. Also remove the timing chain tensioner. 9. Remove the sprockets together with the chain. Do not disturb the crankshaft or camshaft while the timing chain and sprockets are removed. 10. If necessary, remove the Torx bolts that secure the chain guide and remove it from the block.

Install the timing chain cover and the remaining components removed for installation.

Install the timing chain.
