    How do you remove the thermostat on Ford Taurus? Posted by Customer
    A:
    To remove the thermostat, disconnect the negative battery cable and empty the cooling system. In V6 models, you will have to take off the air filter housing and outlet pipe, and also to disconnect the heater hose from the thermostat housing. Loosen off and remove the inlet cover bolts, release the inlet cover, and observe its position as well as the O-ring of the thermostat before removing it. For four-cylinder models, separate the heater hose or remove the bolts of the thermostat housing to detach it from the engine. Replace it if corroded or damaged. In V6 models, coolant hoses should be taken away from the thermostat housing. Clean seal surfaces then replace old O-rings with new ones which are lubricated with clean coolant before fitting them around the thermostat housing.
