Before removing the steering wheel, whether, one needs to pull the cable of the negative terminal. As for the 2007 and earlier models, you need to unscrew the cover of the airbag module with the assistance of a screwdriver and then unscrew the airbag module, whereas, for the 2008 and later models, there are three spring clips which unlock when the steering wheel is moved to the 9 o'clock position. Disconnect the electrical connectors of the airbag and horn, and take the bolt of the steering wheel. Before disconnecting the electrical connectors it is advisable to first loosen or mark the linkage between the steering wheel and the steering shaft. At this stage, you have to use a two jaw puller to demount the steering wheel without hammering the nut. Make sure that the airbag clock spring is tightly wrapped in a tape to avoid it to be turned over accidentally. For installation, install clock spring of the airbag properly while ensure that the dot end of steering located at 9 o'clock position and the electric lead end at 3 o'clock position. If it is necessary, the clock spring can be rotated to the middle position. The clock spring can be removed by first removing the steering wheel and the tilt-wheel handle next to which are the lower and upper steering column covers and finally the ignition switch lock cylinder. Secure the clock spring with tape, remove the clock spring connector, make the lock clips popped up, separate the harness from the clips and finally remove the clock spring from the steering column. During installation, the clock spring should be placed in the steering column with the electrical harness connector positioned at 3 o'clock, then retaining clips are to be pressed back to engage the steering column, the harness wiring need to be secured and finally the electrical connectors put in place. Last of all, position the steering wheel in the correct angle against the shaft, fit a new bolt, and tighten it, Reconnect the horn and cruise control connectors if present and connect the battery cable.
