Installation of the transaxle is a reversal of the removal procedure, but note the following points: As the torque converter is reinstalled, ensure that the drive tangs at the center of the torque converter hub engage with the recesses in the automatic transaxle fluid pump inner gear. This can be confirmed by turning the torque converter while pushing it towards the transaxle. If it isn't fully engaged, it will clunk into place. When installing the transaxle, make sure the match marks you made on the torque converter and driveplate line up. Install all of the driveplate-to-torque converter nuts before tightening any of them. Tighten the driveplate-to-torque converter nuts to the specified torque. Tighten the transaxle mounting bolts to the specified torque. Tighten the suspension crossmember mounting bolts to the torque values. Tighten the driveaxle/hub nuts to the torque value. Tighten the wheel lug nuts to the torque. Fill the transaxle with the correct type and amount of automatic transmission fluid. On completion, adjust the shift cable. On 1.5L and 1.6L models, the transaxle fluid auxiliary pump mounting bolts and the O-rings should be replaced with new ones. Apply a non-hardening thread locking compound to the pump mounting bolts.
