Note: The differential side seals should be replaced whenever a half shaft has been removed. Install plug (T89P-4850-B) or equivalent in the left side of the housing and lower the assembly.

Removal begins with the removal of the right half shaft. Next, reference mark the driveshaft in relation to the companion flange and remove the driveshaft retaining bolts. Slide the driveshaft forward and rest it on the driveshaft hoop. With a jack supporting the differential housing, remove the bolts retaining the rear mount. Remove the rear mount from the carrier cover. Remove the front mounting bolts, nuts, bushings and washers. Partially lower the housing. While lowering the housing, move it to the right and use a prybar to detach the left half shaft from the housing. Note: The differential side seals should be replaced whenever a half shaft has been removed. Install plug (T89P-4850-B) or equivalent in the left side of the housing and lower the assembly.For installation, replace the side oil seals. Install a new circlip on the left halfshaft. Note: Do not bend or twist the circlip. Lubricate the left halfshaft splines. Position the carrier on a jack and partially raise it to align the left half shaft into the differential side gear. Note: Be careful not to damage the differential pilot bearing and oil seal. Connect the carrier to the front mounting bolts and engage the left half shaft until the circlip seats in the differential side gear. Properly install the bushings, washers and nuts on the front mount and tighten them to the torque. Install the rear mount to the housing cover. Install the bolts and nuts retaining the rear mount-to-cross member. Align the reference marks on the driveshaft and companion flange. Install the retaining bolts and tighten them to the torque. Finally, install the right half shaft.
