At specified intervals, change transmission fluid and replace filter. No drain plug, remove transmission oil pan to drain fluid. Warm up vehicle, support on jackstands. Place drain pan under pan, remove bolts, lower pan to drain fluid. Inspect for metal particles. Remove filter/strainer, clean surfaces, replace with new gasket. Apply RTV sealant, position new gasket, reinstall pan, tighten bolts diagonally. Lower vehicle, add fluid gradually through dipstick tube, check level with dipstick, run engine through gears. Q:
How should you prepare the transmission pan and filter for the 2005 Ford Expedition? Posted by Customer
    A:
Clean the gasket surface of the transmission to remove all remnants of the old gasket and sealant. Drain the fluid from the transmission pan, clean it with solvent, and thoroughly dry it. Upon initial service, you may find a plastic plug in the bottom of the pan, which was used to keep contamination out during assembly. Discard this plug. Remove the old filter from the transmission. If the filter seal didn't come out with the filter, remove it carefully without damaging the seal bore. Install a new seal and filter.
