Q:
How to change the transmission fluid and replace the filter on Ford Bronco? Posted by Customer
A:
At specified intervals, it's recommended to change the transmission fluid and replace the filter. As there is no drain plug, the transmission oil pan needs removal to drain the fluid. Before starting, obtain the specified transmission fluid, a new filter, and all necessary gaskets. Other tools required include jackstands, a wrench, a standard screwdriver, a drain pan, newspapers, and clean rags. Begin by warming up the vehicle and securely supporting it on jackstands. Place the drain pan under the transmission oil pan, remove the pan bolts, and carefully lower the pan to drain the fluid. Inspect the fluid for metal particles. The filter/strainer on the bottom of the transmission is then accessible; remove it, clean the pan and filter mounting surfaces, and replace the filter with a new gasket. Apply RTV sealant, position the new gasket on the pan, and reinstall it, tightening the bolts diagonally. Lower the vehicle, add transmission fluid gradually through the dipstick tube, checking the level with the dipstick and running the engine through gears. Drive to reach normal operating temperature, park on a level surface, and check the fluid level again, adjusting as necessary. Avoid overfilling.

Q:
How should you prepare the transmission pan and filter for the 2005 Ford Expedition? Posted by Customer
A:
Clean the gasket surface of the transmission to remove all remnants of the old gasket and sealant. Drain the fluid from the transmission pan, clean it with solvent, and thoroughly dry it. Upon initial service, you may find a plastic plug in the bottom of the pan, which was used to keep contamination out during assembly. Discard this plug. Remove the old filter from the transmission. If the filter seal didn't come out with the filter, remove it carefully without damaging the seal bore. Install a new seal and filter.
