    Q:
How to remove and install front coil springs on Lincoln Town Car? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove front coil springs on most models, excluding 1982-87 Continentals and 1984-92 Mark Vlls, raise the vehicle, remove wheels, shock absorber, and center link. Use a spring compressor to compress the spring and detach the lower control arm from the frame. For installation, secure the upper insulator on the spring with tape, position the spring on the lower control arm, align it with frame bolt holes, and loosely install pivot bolts. Reattach the center link, shock absorber, and stabilizer bar (pre-1992), install wheels, lower the vehicle, and tighten lug nuts.

    Q:
How do you remove the rear coil spring for the 1984 Lincoln Town Car? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start by loosening the wheel lug nuts, raising the rear of the vehicle, and supporting it securely on jackstands under the frame. Remove the rear wheels and block the front wheels. Next, remove the rear stabilizer bar and support the rear axle assembly with a jack placed under the axle housing. Use a safety chain through the spring and around a frame member for added security. Disconnect the lower studs of the two rear shock absorbers from their mounting brackets on the axle tube, and detach the height sensor connector link from the upper control arm. On 1998 and later models, disconnect the lateral arms that are part of the Watts linkage at the chassis ends. Slowly lower the jack until the spring is fully extended, and then remove the safety chain, coil spring, and insulators from between the suspension arm and the spring upper seat.

    Q:
What steps are involved in the removal of the coil spring for the 2002 Ford Crown Victoria? Posted by Customer
    A:
Loosen the wheel lug nuts. Raise the vehicle and securely support it on jackstands. Remove the wheels. On 1988 through 1991 models, disconnect the stabilizer bar from the link. Remove the shock absorber. Disconnect the center link from the Pitman arm. Use a suitable spring compressor, following the manufacturer's instructions, to relieve tension on the spring. Compress the spring. Remove the nuts and bolts securing the inner end of the lower control arm to the frame. Slowly lower the control arm. Remove the spring and compressor as a unit. Note the installation of the upper insulator between the upper end of the spring and the frame. If the spring is to be replaced, slowly loosen the spring compressor tool until all tension is removed, then remove the tool.
