For four-cylinder models, detach the battery cable, raise the vehicle, and remove the underbody cover. Disconnect the starter motor solenoid wire nut, battery cable nut, and wires from the starter. Remove the ground wire and mounting stud bolts to remove the starter. Reverse the process for installation. For V6 models, additional steps include removing the air filter housing and outlet pipe for 2.7L engines. On 3.5L and 3.7L engines, disconnect the transaxle shift cable and remove the shift lever nut and lever. Remove the starter motor solenoid wire nut, battery cable nut, and wires from the starter motor. Remove the starter motor mounting fasteners to remove the starter. Reverse the process for installation.

The steps to remove the starter motor in four-cylinder models are as follows: 1. Detach the battery cable from the negative terminal. 2. Raise and securely support the vehicle on jackstands. 3. Remove the underbody cover. 4. Disconnect the starter motor solenoid wire nut and starter motor battery cable nut. 5. Disconnect both wires from the starter. 6. Disconnect the ground wire from the starter mounting stud. 7. Remove the mounting stud bolts to take out the starter.

Remove the nut that secures the ground wire to the starter mounting stud and disconnect the ground wire from the stud. Then, remove the mounting stud and mounting bolt to remove the starter.
