    Q:
What is the location and function of the pressure cycling switch in the air conditioning system on Ford Taurus? Posted by Customer
    A:
The HVAC Pressure Switch is located on top of the hard line from the condenser to the air conditioning thermostatic expansion valve (TXV). The HVAC Pressure Switch detects low refrigerant line pressure, and switches the A/C system off, then back on again to provide higher pressure. If the pressure increases too high, the pressure cut-off switch (located in the high-pressure side of the system) shuts the system off. Have the air conditioning system recovered by a dealer service department or an automotive air conditioning shop before proceeding. On four-cylinder models, remove the under engine splash shield (if equipped), and the splash shield below the radiator. Unplug the electrical connector from the HVAC Pressure Switch. Unscrew and remove the HVAC Pressure Switch. Lubricate the switch O-ring with clean refrigerant oil of the correct type. Screw the new switch into place until hand tight, then tighten it securely. Reconnect the electrical connector. For four-cylinder models, install the splash shields. Have the system evacuated, recharged, and leak tested by the shop that discharged it.

    Q:
What is the purpose of the pressure cycling switch in the air conditioning system on Lincoln MKX? Posted by Customer
    A:
The pressure cycling switch is located on top of the hard line from the condenser to the air conditioning thermostatic expansion valve (TXV). It detects low refrigerant line pressure and switches the A/C system off, then back on again to provide higher pressure. Before proceeding, have the air conditioning system recovered by a dealer service department or automotive air conditioning shop. Unplug the electrical connector from the pressure cycling switch and unscrew it. Lubricate the switch O-ring with clean refrigerant oil and screw the new switch into place. Q:
How do you remove and replace the air conditioning pressure cycling switch and high-pressure cut-off switch on Ford F-150? Posted by Customer
    A:
Both switches are threaded onto Schrader valves, so discharging the air conditioning system is unnecessary for their removal. The pressure cycling switch detects low refrigerant line pressure at 21 to 23 psi, turning the A/C compressor off and back on again at 42 psi. If pressure exceeds 435 to 475 psi, the A/C Compressor Cut-Out Switches will deactivate the A/C compressor. To remove the switch, unplug the electrical connector and use an open-end wrench to detach the air conditioning pressure cycling switch from the accumulator fitting. The A/C Compressor Cut-Out Switches are removed in the same manner, as it is mounted to a high-pressure A/C line. Next, unscrew the switch from the Schrader valve, lubricate the switch O-ring with clean refrigerant oil of the correct type, and screw the new switch onto the threads until hand tight, then secure it. Finally, reconnect the electrical connector.
