Test the replacement bulb to ensure it functions correctly by activating the switch to illuminate the bulb. Close the bulb access panel and the vehicle's hood.

It is always advisable to have the headlights aligned on proper optical beam setting equipment. However, if this is not available, the following procedure may be used. Position the car on level ground 10ft (3.048 meters) in front of a dark wall or board that is at right-angles to the center-line of the car. Draw a vertical line on the board or wall in line with the center-line of the car. Bounce the car on its suspension to ensure correct settlement and then measure the height between the ground and the center of the headlights. Draw a horizontal line across the board or wall at this measured height. On this horizontal line, mark a cross on either side of the vertical center-line, representing the distance between the center of the light unit and the center of the car. Remove the headlight rims and switch the headlights onto full beam. By carefully adjusting the horizontal and vertical adjusting screws on each light, align the centers of each beam onto the crosses previously marked on the horizontal line. Bounce the car on its suspension again and check that the beams return to the correct position, while also checking the operation of the dipswitch. Finally, replace the headlight rims. This procedure is a temporary, emergency operation until the headlights can be adjusted using the proper equipment.
