    Q:
How do you replace the fuel filter in a Mercury Capri? Posted by Customer
    A:
Find the current filter that is on the frame rail near the fuel tank, and buy a new fuel filter for fuel injected models. You should clean hose fittings, pull out hairpin clips, and separate fuel hoses from the filter. Before removing the old filter from its bracket, observe which way the arrow points on it, and loosen clamps or bolts that hold it in place. Attach the new filter to the bracket and put it in place without changing anything else before connecting the hose with hairpin clips. Start your engine and look for any leaking gasoline. To begin with, on carbureted models you need to remove air cleaner housing. Underneath it, you will have to place a rag then disconnect the fuel line(s) from filter. Use clamps to secure an inline filter properly. For carburetor mounted filters, if you find it necessary, remove either old filters or fuel inlet fitting(It could be one of these two), apply thread sealant where necessary then screw tightly ensuring a new filter is correctly installed.
