    Q:
How do you remove and install the oil pump and oil pan in V8 engine on Ford F-250? Posted by Customer
    A:
Lift off the oil pan; then, undo the bolts, which hold the oil pump and support brace to the block, together with the nut of the brace and two bolts of the oil pick-up tube. Subsequently, you should uninstall the oil pump and the pick-up tube assembly and then clean the surfaces that are to come in contact with the pump and the block. Check the oil pump, and before fitting it, spin the pump shaft; fill the inlet of the pump with oil and oil will squirt out from the outlet when the shaft is rotated. Fit the oil pump securely to the engine block with the help of two bolts and tighten them to the recommended torque. Last, put in the oil pan before you proceed to the next step or the next process or phase of the particular job that you are working on.

    Q:
How to remove and install an oil pump on Lincoln Continental Overhead cam(OHC) engine? Posted by Customer
    A:
The oil pump is available as a complete replacement unit only. No service parts or repair specifications are available from the manufacturer. Unbolt and lower the oil pan. It's not necessary to completely remove the oil pan. Remove the two bolts that attach the oil pump pick-up tube to the oil pump. Remove the timing cover, timing chains, chain guides and crankshaft sprockets. Remove the four oil pump mounting bolts and separate the pump from the block. Prime the oil pump prior to installation. Pour clean oil into the pick-up port and turn the pump by hand. Inspect the 0-ring gasket on the pick-up tube, if damaged replace it. Install the oil pump to the engine and tighten the bolts to the torque. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal procedure. Fill the engine with the correct type and quantity of oil. Start the engine and check for leaks.

    Q:
How do you remove and install the oil pump and ensure proper oil pressure in four cylinder engine on Mercury Capri? Posted by Customer
    A:
Remove the oil pan. Next, take off the nut securing the pick-up tube to the engine, followed by the bolts securing the pump to the engine. Remove the pump and pick-up tube as an assembly, then separate them once they are off the engine. The pump intermediate shaft should drop out of the bottom of the distributor shaft during this process. If there is any possibility that the pump is faulty or if an engine overhaul is being performed, replace the pump, as a faulty pump can ruin an otherwise good engine. Before installation, prime the pump by holding it with the pick-up tube up and pouring a few ounces of clean oil into the inlet screen. Turn the pump driveshaft by hand until oil comes out the outlet. Install the pump intermediate shaft with the collar end in the engine block, ensuring the shaft seats in the distributor. Hold the shaft in place and install the pump and oil pan, making sure to tighten the bolts to the specified torque. Add oil to the engine, then start it and ensure the oil pressure comes up. If it doesn't come up within 10 or 15 seconds, shut off the engine immediately and investigate the cause of the problem, as continued running without oil pressure can severely damage the moving parts. Finally, check for oil leaks.

    Q:
How to remove and install an oil pump on Lincoln Mark VII Overhead valve (OHV)engines? Posted by Customer
    A:
Unbolt and lower the oil pan. Remove the oil pick-up tube-to-main bearing cap nut. Remove the oil pump pick-up tube mounting bolts. Remove the oil pump mounting bolts and lower the oil pump assembly into the oil pan and lift them both out together. If the pump is faulty, or you suspect that it's faulty, install a new one - do not attempt to repair the original. As complete oil pumps, new or remanufactured, have become more inexpensive, reliable and readily available, service parts for oil pump overhaul/repair have become increasingly difficult and unnecessary to find. Prime the oil pump prior to installation. Pour clean oil into the pick-up and turn the pump shaft by hand. If you separated the pump from the pick-up tube, use a new gasket and tighten the bolts securely when reattaching them. As the pump is reinstalled, fit the oil pump driveshaft into the pump. It must seat all the way. DO NOT try to force it. If it doesn't align, turn the pump slightly and try again. Install the mounting bolts/nut and tighten them.

    Q:
How to service oil pumps on Ford Bronco II? Posted by Customer
    A:
To service a gasoline engine, start by and disconnecting the oil pan assembly and to eliminate the oil pump, you should unbolt it. Introduce clean engine oil through the inlet or out let port of the oil pump and thereafter turn the pump shaft to distribute the oil. Replace the pump and fasten the mounting bolts to the prescribed torque setting for the various engine capacities Do not force the pump because if it does not fit well, there will be misalignment. Last but not the least; refit the oil pan, and as already pointed out the pumps cannot be rebuilt and must be replaced if found unserviceable. For 2.2L diesel engines a ground cable should be removed from the battery, the oil pan should be unbolted and the oil pump outlet tube should be disconnected. New tap then the pump outlet tube with teflon tape on the set screws, secured the pipe outlet with a new gasket and tighten the bolts where the old pump used to be. After raising the oil filler cap, add the right oil in the crankcase then turn off the cooling system and release pressure before connecting the battery. For 2.3L diesel engines, you need to start with the removal of battery cable and plethora of components like the cooling fan and timing belt covers among others. Subsequently to the removal of the oil pan bolts and the required parts, pull out the oil pump with its gears. When installing perform the following; ensure that the silent shaft and oil pump gears are synchronised, put on the front cover with new gasket and tighten all components to the recommended torque. Last but not the least, refit the oil pan, set the timing belts, and join the battery terminals, ensure for oil seepage after the running of the engine.
