    Q:
How to replace the front oil seal in 2.0L SPI engine on Ford Focus? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then remove the drivebelt. Securely block the rear wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling, jack up the front, and place it securely on jackstands, ensuring not to get under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Remove the splash shield from the passenger's side, followed by the crankshaft damper and timing belt. Next, take out the timing belt pulley and guide from the crankshaft. Using a suitable hooked tool, pry out the oil seal from the oil pump housing. Apply a coat of light engine oil to the lip of the new seal and press it into position using a seal replacer tool, or tap it into place with a socket that has an outside diameter slightly smaller than that of the seal. The remainder of the installation follows the reverse order of the removal steps.

    Q:
How do you replace front Crankshaft Seal on Mercury Lynx? Posted by Customer
    A:
The timing belt needs to be removed, the crankshaft sprocket should be pulled off, though a two jaw puller might be necessary if it is on very tight. After that, remove the dished washer from the crankshaft but the best side of it should be placed against the oil seal. With a suitable hooked tool, prise out the oil seal from the oil pump housing. Coat the lips of the new seal in oil and then fit it in place around the pulley bolt the large washer and a piece of pipe as space washer. Next, set the dished washer in such a manner that the concave side is in contact with the oil seal, then the belt sprocket is placed over the crankshaft and followed by the pulley. Last, but not the least, set the car timing belt as hitherto elucidated should do the trick.
