    Q:
What is the purpose of the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) system and pcv valve on Lincoln Continental? Posted by Customer
    A:
Hydrocarbon emissions are reduced by the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) system which scavenges crankcase vapors, passes them through the air cleaner, and mixes them with blow-by gases before redirecting them back to the intake manifold through a PCV valve. The main components of the PCV system are, fresh air filtered inlet, vacuum hoses connecting these two components with the engine and EECS system, and PCV valve. The flow is restricted when there is high intake manifold vacuum so as to maintain idle quality, this is achieved by using PCV valve. When abnormal operating conditions occur, the system allows excessive amounts of blow-by gases to pass back into the air cleaner through the crankcase vent tube for normal combustion.

    Q:
How does the PCV system work for the 1990 Ford F-250? Posted by Customer
    A:
The PCV system directs vapors and blow-by gases from the crankcase into the intake manifold, where they mix with the air/fuel charge and undergo combustion.

    Q:
What is important to note when transferring the elbow from the old PCV valve to a new one for the 1996 Ford F-250? Posted by Customer
    A:
When transferring the elbow from the old PCV valve to a new one, it may need to be soaked in warm water for up to an hour to make it easier to slip onto the new valve. Forcing the elbow onto the valve should be avoided to prevent breakage.

    Q:
What happens in abnormal operating conditions for the 1999 Ford Ranger? Posted by Customer
    A:
In abnormal operating conditions, the PCV system is designed to allow excessive amounts of blow-by gases to flow back through the crankcase vent tube into the air cleaner to be consumed by normal combustion.

    Q:
What should you check if no vacuum is felt when the PCV hose is disconnected for the 2010 Ford Ranger? Posted by Customer
    A:
If no vacuum is felt, check for vacuum leaks at the valve, filler cap, and all hoses. The oil filler cap, hoses, or valve cover gasket may be leaking, or the PCV valve may be bad.

    Q:
How can the proper functioning of the PCV valve/system be determined for the 1985 Lincoln Continental? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start the engine and allow it to idle, then disconnect the PCV hose from the air cleaner housing and feel for vacuum at the hose. If vacuum is felt, the PCV valve/system is working properly.

    Q:
What is the purpose of the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) system for the 1985 Lincoln Town Car? Posted by Customer
    A:
The purpose of the PCV system is to reduce hydrocarbon emissions by scavenging crankcase vapors and circulating fresh air through the crankcase.

    Q:
How does the crankcase emission control system prevent environmental pollution and engine issues for the 1984 Ford Bronco II? Posted by Customer
    A:
The system recirculates combustion gases from the crankcase back into the combustion chamber, preventing engine oil contamination and environmental pollution from unburned hydrocarbons.

    Q:
What happens to excessive blow-by gases in the PCV system for the 1991 Ford Explorer? Posted by Customer
    A:

    Q:
What should you check if no vacuum is felt when testing the PCV valve system for the 1994 Ford Explorer? Posted by Customer
