The orifice tube, located in the condenser to evaporator line, changes high pressure liquid refrigerant into low pressure. Before working on the air conditioning system, have it discharged by a professional. For 2007 and earlier models, disconnect the refrigerant line from the condenser to the evaporator, remove the protective cover, release the coupler with a special tool, and use pliers to remove the orifice tube. Discard old O-rings when installing a new tube. For 2008 and later models, remove the expansion valve by detaching the nut from the refrigerant line fittings, removing the block and lines, and discarding the seals.
