Ford Expedition Air Filter

Air Filter is premierowed with the responsibility of safeguarding the Ford Expedition's engine since it is responsible for trapping dirt and debris within it. Depend on the buildup of particles the filter obstructs air flow reducing performance and fuel efficiency. For the replacement air filters, Ford provides paper models or cotton gauze with the filtration and the flow rate being finely tuned. The paper is used for the filters traditionally, but the cotton gauze filters will give you more air and longer service. FOAM, OILED COTTON GAUZE and STAINLESS STEEL MESH type of Air filters are used according to the type of engine built into the car and type of driving cycle the vehicle will be exposed to. The air filter should then be inspected and replaced frequently so as to maintain the engine in good condition as well as its performance.

Ford Expedition Air Filter Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: What are the instructions for replacing the MAF sensor and air filter in a Ford Expedition?
A: The MAF sensor is attached to the air filter housing. Do not stretch or bend the wiring to the MAF sensor while replacing the sensor. The air filter is located inside a housing at the left (driver's) side of the engine compartment. To remove the air filter, release the clamp that secures the two halves of the air cleaner housing together, then separate the cover halves and remove the air filter element. On 2007 and later Expedition/Navigator models, reach under the connector and pull back the retaining clip, then disconnect the connector before pulling up the air filter housing. Inspect the outer surface of the filter element. If it is dirty, replace it. If it is only moderately dusty, it can be reused by blowing it clean from the back to the front surface with compressed air. Because it is a pleated paper type filter, it cannot be washed or oiled. If it cannot be cleaned satisfactorily with compressed air, discard and replace it. While the cover is off, be careful not to drop anything down into the housing. Never drive the vehicle with the air cleaner removed. Excessive engine wear could result and backfiring could even cause a fire under the hood. Wipe out the inside of the air cleaner housing. Place the new filter into the air cleaner housing, making sure it seats properly. Installation of the housing is the reverse of removal.
