Q: How do you remove and install the front and rear wiper motors on Ford Explorer?
A: Rotate the front windshield Wiper Switch on and the switch on the ignition and have your hand on the key until the wiper blades are towards the straight up position, switch off the ignition. Remove the nuts from the cell bottom as well as the right side Wiper Arm and blade assembly. On the models from 1991 to 1996, unbolt the pivot nut on the right side of the linkage post and let the linkage falls down into the cowl. For all cars of the 1997 and later, Release both cowl vent as panels before continuing. For the models between 1991 and 1996, you should start by withdrawing the wiper linkage access cover, from the inside of the car you will unsnap the wiper motor clip and slide it away from the crank pin nib on the linkage and pop it off. Pull out the wiper linkage from the motor crank pin and in case of models 1997 and later, dismantle the linkage arms by pulling the clips at the ends of the arms, likewise, remove the cowl vent panels and remove the linkages from the motor. Unplug the wire harness connection to the motor, and unbolt the motor, kindly note that some of the bolts are stud/bolts; you have to remove the nut besides the ground strap or harness. Of course the opposite of removal, ensure the wiper blades are in the park position before installing the linkage to the motor. For the rear wiper motor you need to remove the negative cable from the battery, then remove the wiper blade from the window as it has to be lifted off the motor spindle. Disconnect the lift gate trim panel, UNSCREW the motor bracket screws, an extract the motor as well as bracket from the grommet.
