Ford Taurus Intercooler

As one of the Ford Taurus' features, the Intercooler is responsible for boosting up the engine strength through its capacity to cool down the compressed air that is injected to the combustion chamber. This cooling process is important in preventing pre-ignition as well as enhancing power since it enables better air/fuel mixture density. The Ford Taurus models may come with air intercoolers or liquid intercoolers and while the air intercooler is much lighter and more frequently used in automotive, liquid intercooler is heavier and is applied in some specific cases i.e, marine engines. For decades, there has been modification of intercooler types on the Ford Taurus especially for turbo-charged and super-charged engines. Decisions as to which of these intercooler types will be used might influence factors such as the vehicle's total weight and the effectiveness of the cooling system, that is why air-to-air intercooler systems are usually preferred. In the last terms we can define that the Ford Taurus Intercooler is very important for that the forced induction systems offer the great benefits, it provide the engine to work effectively and safely.

Ford Taurus Intercooler Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: What precautions should be taken when removing the turbocharger, charge air cooler, or cooler tubes on Ford Taurus?
A: Whenever the Turbocharger, intercooler, or cooler tubes are removed, always cover any opening to prevent debris from falling in. The system is easily damaged, so carefully clean all openings before reassembling. Begin by removing the cooling fan shroud. Next, take out the Manifold Absolute Pressure Temperature (MAPT) sensor. Loosen the clamps securing the inlet and outlet tubes to the intercooler, then disconnect the tubes. Remove the intercooler bolts, which are secured by two bolts on each end (left side). Slide the cooler to the left while pulling the left side out, and carefully remove the cooler from the vehicle. Installation is the reverse of removal.
