Lincoln MKX Oil Pan

The Oil Pan in Lincoln MKX cars is just as important element which contains engine oil and which is used for temp cooling of engine elements. Venting on the other hand is achieved using a wet sump system, meaning that the Lincoln MKX Oil Pan holds the oil that is drawn by the pickup tube and then pumped around the engine before it is returned to the pan. It also helps keep the delivery of oil constant, which is incredibly vital in the proper functioning of engines. Earlier, most Lincoln MKX Oil Pans were produced from stamped steel, however, improvements have resulted into use of cast aluminum in the recent models, making it more reliable and efficient. The change to the more complicated materials is a result of the evolution of engines in which more attention is paid to the proper management of oil and decrease in the weight of components. On balance, the Lincoln MKX Oil Pan plays an important role in ensuring that the engine stays in good condition and continues to perform effectively for multiple model years.

We provide a wide range of Lincoln MKX Oil Pan at the best prices possible. If you need Lincoln MKX Oil Pan, you can shop with confidence on our website. All our OEM parts come with a manufacturer's warranty and are delivered to your door step with a fast delivery service.

Lincoln MKX Oil Pan Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install the oil pan in four cylinder engine on Lincoln MKX?
A: To remove the components, first raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Drain the engine oil, then clean and install the engine oil drain plug, tightening it to the specified torque. Remove and discard the oil filter for replacement. Next, take off the engine lower splash shield and the air filter housing. The transaxle needs to be moved slightly back from the engine; support the engine from above and the transaxle with a floor jack. Loosen the upper engine-to-transaxle mounting bolts and back them off about 3/16-inch, then loosen the left-side and right-side engine-to-bellhousing bolts, ensuring the transaxle is not moved back more than 0.19-inch to avoid damage. Remove the transaxle roll restrictor mount through bolts and the mount itself, followed by the catalytic converter. Remove the three bellhousing-to-pan bolts and one oil pan-to-bellhousing bolt, along with the timing chain cover-to-oil pan fasteners. Detach the power steering hose bracket retaining nut and move the hose aside. Remove the air compressor without disconnecting the lines and tie it out of the way. Use a screwdriver to pry between the engine and transaxle until the bellhousing has moved away from the block to the limit of the loosened bolts. Unscrew the oil pan retaining bolts evenly until all are removed, then use a rubber mallet to loosen the oil pan seal and lower the oil pan, turning it as necessary to clear the exhaust system. Clean and degrease the mating surfaces of the lower engine block and oil pan, removing all traces of sealant. Apply a 1/8-inch wide bead of sealant to the oil pan flange, ensuring it is around the inside edge of the bolt holes and the front flange where it meets the timing chain cover, and install the oil pan bolts finger tight. Install the timing chain cover-to-oil pan fasteners and tighten them to the specified torque. Tighten the oil pan-to-engine block bolts in a circular pattern from the center outwards, then tighten the oil pan-to-bellhousing bolts and the transaxle to engine bolts evenly. Finally, lower the vehicle to the ground and wait at least 1 hour for the sealant to cure before refilling the engine with oil, trimming off any excess sealant and installing a new oil filter.
