Raise the rear of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands.

Loosen the wheel lug nuts, then raise and support the rear of the vehicle. After that, remove the rear wheels.

Additional steps include loosening the front wheel lug nuts, raising the vehicle, removing the wheels, detaching various components like the tie-rod end, upper ball joint, and fasteners attaching the lower end of the shock absorber to the lower control arm. Finally, remove the shock absorber/coil spring assembly for inspection and replacement as needed. Installation follows the reverse of the removal process, ensuring proper tightening of fasteners and lug nuts.

If leakage is noted, replace the shocks as a set. However, a light film of fluid is no cause for concern.

To detach the upper end of the shock absorber from the frame bracket, you need to remove the upper nut, the retainer, and the bushing. A back-up wrench on the lower nut is necessary to prevent the shock from turning when you loosen the nut. Remove the retainer and bushing.

Some steps and precautions include turning off the air suspension system, raising the vehicle securely on jackstands, and removing the wheels as needed for access.

Check that the shocks are securely mounted and undamaged. Also, inspect the upper mounts for damage and wear.

Install the shock absorber in the reverse order of removal.
