To remove the fan shroud, first detach the bolts connecting it to the radiator and reposition the shroud over the fan. Next, take out the fan/clutch assembly along with the shroud, followed by the drivebelts. Mark the crankshaft pulley and vibration damper for reassembly in their original positions, as they are balanced together. Unbolt and remove the pulley, ensuring to mark it and the vibration damper beforehand; the large vibration damper bolt may be tight, so a six-point socket and breaker bar are recommended for loosening. Remove the bolt from the front of the crankshaft, preventing it from turning by wedging a large screwdriver between the teeth of the starter ring gear against the transmission housing. Use a puller to detach the vibration damper, ensuring it applies force only to the hub to avoid damage. Clean the crankshaft nose and seal contact surface of the vibration damper, keeping the Woodruff key in the crankshaft keyway. For installation, lubricate the oil seal contact surface of the vibration damper hub with grease or clean engine oil, aligning the keyway with the Woodruff key. If necessary, use a large washer and bolt to pull the damper into place, or gently tap it with a soft-face hammer or a block of wood. Tighten the bolt to the specified torque, then complete the remaining steps in reverse order of removal. Finally, add coolant, check the oil level, and run the engine to inspect for any leaks.

Lubricate the oil seal contact surface of the vibration damper hub with moly-base grease or clean engine oil. Inspect the damper for signs of damage or excessive wear. Apply a silicone-based sealer to the crankshaft keyway before installing the damper.

Align the keyway in the damper with the Woodruff key in the crankshaft nose. If the damper cannot be seated by hand, slip the large washer over the bolt, install the bolt, and tighten it to pull the damper into place.

Remove the accessory drivebelt.

An adapter should be used between the puller bolt and the crankshaft to prevent damage to the bore and threads in the end of the crankshaft.

1. Remove the engine front cover. 2. Use a punch or screwdriver and hammer to drive the seal out of the cover from the back side, supporting the cover with blocks of wood. 3. Clean the bore to remove any old seal material and corrosion, then position the new seal in the bore with the open end facing IN. 4. Drive the new seal into the bore until it's completely seated. 5. Reinstall the engine front cover and crankshaft pulley. 6. Start the engine and check for leaks.
