The next step is to support the strut spring assembly under the fenderwell, then remove the upper mounting nuts, which involves removing the three upper mounting nuts.

Push down on each corner of the vehicle and observe if it returns to a level position within one or two bounces.

5. Chock the front wheels, jack up the rear of the vehicle, and support it on axle stands. Remove the wheels as required. 6. On the left-hand shock absorber, release the exhaust from the rubber hanger, then undo the rear exhaust muffler heat shield bolts and remove it to access the upper shock mounting nut. 7. Place a jack under the lower suspension arm/coil spring for support. Unscrew and remove the upper mounting bolt, then the lower mounting bolt. Withdraw the shock absorber from under the vehicle.

If the original spring is to be reused, it can be left in compression. If a new spring is to be installed, the original spring must be carefully released from the compressor.
